What would you recommend as a fourth lens for someone who has the lens kit (18-70mm), Nikon AF 50mm F1.8D and a Nikon AF-S VR 24-120mm lens? I'm looking for a good quality extreme telephoto zoom lens for about $1000 max.

By extreme telephoto zoom do you mean something like a generic 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 lens ($250-350) or a beast like the Sigma 300-800 f/5.6 ($4500) and Nikon's 200-400 f/4 ($5100)?

Or a Nikkor AF 70-300G for $135?

sigma 100-300mm f4 HSM maybe ?

I dunno how much they cost in the states, but here in the UK I just picked one up for £380 2nd user... very happy with it too - HSM AF is nice and fast, as is constant f4, only drawback is the size/weight, though ive found itok to hand holdfor the duration of a football match... zoom is internal as well

Grinders suggestion of a 70-300 G is a decent one too - that was the lens I upgraded from to the sigma , and for the money you can'tgo wrong

Just a thought anyway...:-)
