With PMA-2005 now history and no new announcements from Nikon (excluding D2Hs) I'm now "stuck" between the D70 and 7D. My wife owns the Minolta A200 and we both like the AS feature. However when comparing the following packages, I'm having a hard time justifying the $875 (CDN funds) difference between the two. To Nikon D70 users, please help! I really do not want to carry around a tripod so how do I get around the AS? Also, the Nikon package is within my budget however the Minolta package is a little over and I would probably have to wait about 6 months before I could add the Sigma 100-300mm lens to the package.

I am an advanced user (not pro) and most of my pics will be of family members (indoor and outdoor) as well as some landscape when on vacation. My pics will be mostly 4x6 with some 8x10 pics printed on my Canon i950 using Canon Photo Paper Pro.

Nikon Package:
Nikon D70 (body only)
Nikon ML-L3 remote
Sigma 18-125mm F3.4-5.6 DC lens
Sigma 50mm F2.8 EX DG Macro lens
Sigma 100-300mm F4.0 EX HSM lens
SanDisk Extreme 1GB CF

Minolta Package:
Minolta Maxxum 7D (body only)
Sigma 18-125mm F3.4-5.6 DC lens
Sigma 50mm F2.8 EX DG Macro lens
Sigma 100-300mm F4.0 EX non-HSM lens
SanDisk Extreme 1GB CF
