The thing is I have a coolpix 4500 which uses EN-EL1 and I was wondering if I could use those batteries in my D70, maybe at the expense of some shortage in battery life?? Has anybody tried this?:?

The EN-EL1 is smaller than the EN-EL3 and will not fit correctly in the D70's battery chamber. The only adapter Nikon makes is for using CR123 lithium batteries I believe (correct me if I'm wrong here, I don't own a D70).

I see, too bad for me. Maybe I´ll venture and try to make an adapter myself (gulp)

thanks

I wouldn't waste my time with it ... the EN-EL1 is not nearly as powerful as the EN-EL3 used in the D70. There are plenty of inexpensive EN-E3 alternatives for sale on eBay and other places.

As Steve mentioned, you can get EN-EL3 from third parties such as Power 2000, Delkin and others. I have two Nikon EN-EL3's and three from Power 2000, they all work really well and are cheaper than Nikon's offerings.
