Does this camera have a setting to power down when not in use, or is it always on?

Thanks

Hi,

The exposure metering, by default, is set to turn off in 6 seconds of non-use. This setting can be adjusted in the Custom Settings Menu (CSM) , simple menu, item 23 , "meter off". It can be adjusted between 4 seconds and 30 minutes. I think 6 is about right. I am not aware of anything else draining power while idle. As soon as the shutter button is pressed halfway, the camera comes back to life.

Don't worry about the battery life - it takes VERY little juice and I've never had a problem at all.
