Problem showed up about a month ago for a week ... tried to turn off camera, but everything stayed on. Then the problem went away. Showed up again three days ago - I have to take the battery out so it doesn't drain. No mater what I do to the switch, I just can't get the machine to turn off ... full menu stays lit on top, can take pictures, pictures save to card, etc.

Tried flipping switch softly, hard, flicking it, etc ... I'm looking at a hammer right now ... Any sugestions ? I live in a remote area with no true shops, so I'd have to send it in (which could mean weeks of downtime).

Well you really don't have much choice if you want it fixed under warranty sorry to say.

The faster you send it in the faster you'll get it back it may not take as long as you think.

I would recommend sending it in for repair. In the meantime, if make a trip to a city with a good camera shop, you might be able to rent one with an option to return it before the rental period is up. That's the best suggestion I can come up with.
