Don't get too excited. There has been no official announcement. I don't doubt that it is coming, it's just that release date is typically 30 days or so after announcement, and then its another several weeks before you can actually buy it. I wouldn't expect it to be readily available until after the first of the year.

Here is info from someone on another forum...

Quote:
Over the past few days Nikon has leaked the D200- first Nikon UK leaked photos of the D200 and some new CLS accessories plus the 18-200 VR, then the next day Nikon USA leaked the flash site for the D200, incomplete.
Photos have been hosted here:
http://rootminus1.com/freepics/thumbnails.php?album=40
And the flash site hosted here:
http://www.christianmusicianradio.com/d200/

I can vouch for the accuracy of the flash site as I saw it and got screen captures of it while it was up on Nikondigital.com
The information we know:
D200 will feature:
10.2 megapixel DX CCD sensor
11-point Autofocus System
5 Frames Per Second Continuous shooting
Magnesium Alloy body
1005 pixel 3d Color matrix metering II
D2X Style Controls
Shutter tested to over 100,000 cycles
2.5" LCD, wide viewing angle
EN-EL3E extended life battery- 1800 shots/charge
Nikon Image Processing Engine
Pop-up flash
possible FUNC button
Rubber Grip
Selectable RAW+JPG settings
D2X style top LCD
Apparently larger VF
10-pin and Sync terminals
PRICE POINT: $1699.95 ESTIMATED SELLING PRICE ACCORDING TO FLASH SITE!

Vertical grip, AIS metering etc. still unknown.
CLS Upgrades:

Wireless Speedlight Commander SU-800
Wireless Remote Speedlight SB-R200- clamps on, can be used as ring-flash with SU-800 controller.

That's the show so far! Hope this helps
The D200 is here...I'm ready, are You?

Well. It looks it is almost out right now. The price was unannounced by Nikon and it's going to be $1699, 95. Adorama, as I heard, has a waitting list already.
If I'm late with that, please forgive me :-)

Yes, it is finally ANNOUNCED. Now, as to when it'll be out for the average person to be able to find andbuy.....let's just say you shouldn't be dumping your D70 yet or you may not have a camera to use even by Christmas. Unless you are Moose Peterson, you're going to have to wait now.

Again, my thought is beginning of the year before we see widespread availability, if even then. The buzz on this camera is quickly growing, and based on specs it appears to be a real winner. I definitely want one, but will probably wait until early summer, the 18-200VR will probably find its way into my bag before the D200.
