Default d1x

have been shooting for a few month with the d1x, really impressed with it, definitely beats 135mm film emulsions, not the hassi shots yet, still scanning on the nikon ed8000, but its apaininthea**, looking into getting either the dcs 645m back from kodak, or waiting for next generation nikon d2?.......any tips, rumors?.......

ps: great forum!

Default Rumor?

I agree sort of. I'm not convinced that the D1X is better than 35mm film, but close enough. Definitely not as good as MF, but I agree, scanning is a painintheass.

Rumors heard second hand from Canadian source through to Japan is the next generation D1X is in the works. I've heard 10 and 12 megapixels at various times.

Sounds reasonable. Don't want to dilute D100 sales just yet, but must further differentiate D100 and D1X in order to support $5000 price tag. Have heard nothing about CCD size (the hated 1.5x multiplier).

sounds good! 12megpixels would do! i agree, in terms of fine art photography, 35mm emulsions and lenses in capable hands are still superior to the d1x, but it is already damn gooood! one of my main worries is the tendency of art dept to crop, or decide to make a double spread! shot with the hassi, no problem, but digital, outch! just chked the dcs645m out today, whatapieceofsh**T....will definitely wait for the nxt generation Pro nikons.....!
