Can anyone tell me if the D70s, Sigma 100-300 f/4 Tele, and the Sigma 1.4 EX DG APO Teleconverter are a compatible combo?* I noticed in the list of recomended lenses for the Sigma 1.4 that the 100-300 Telephoto zoom lens is not mentioned.* I am pretty sure it can be used, but I was hoping that the auto-focus feature would also work with the D70.* I hope I made sense.* *Thanks, Steve

The original non-DG teleconverter's table listed the 100-300 as a compatible lens.

Infact on the US site it is listed on the DG teleconverters list....
http://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/lenses_tele.asp

I own the 100-300 (non DG) and a D70... and just happens, my 1.4x converter (DG) arrived yesterday.

I haven't had chance to take it out and fully try it out properly yet but I was fiddling with it in the house yesterday.

- Focus speed is approx 2/3 of normal.
- In AF-S, the focus hunts on first try, then locks on second press.
- NO problem in AF-C
- No visible real drop in sharpness.
- Correct EXIF info (focal length)

Infact, here is the test photo I took in the house... Handheld, ISO200, F5.6, Flash, minimum zoom (140mm), normal in camera sharpening, converted and resized from RAW, auto contrast ran on it.

Focus was locked on the front of the wood.

100% crop.

I know its a poor sample but I only had 5min to play with it yesterday.
