How do you set the shutter to bulb on the D70s?

Set the D70s to manualmode and rotate the main command dial until you get to bulb. See page 82 in the D70s manual.

That's really all there is to do. Once you have selected "bulb" you press the shutter and hold the shutter release button down. As long as the button is pressed, the shutter will remain open. An easier way (than holding the button down for the entire length of the exposure) is to set the camera to remote mode and use the wireless remote. The first press of the remote opens the shutter, the 2nd closes it. The remote can be had for around $20...it is truly a necessary accessory if you plan on doing a lot of bulb exposures.
