Hello!

My Nikon D50 which I bought from Cameta via Ebay is making some strange sound when I quickly reposition it vertically or horizontally or when I shake lightly. It sounds like a lose mirror or spring. Is this supposed to be normal?

Thank you,
Francis

If it's just a slight rattling sound, it's probably just the part inside the camera used for the auto-rotate mechanism (it tells the camera whether the picture was taken in landscape or portrait format).

If you want to be sure, try it with another camera.

It's perfectly normal...I know this because I freaked out when mine did the same thing, returned it and got a new one, and the NEW one did the same thing. I then went to Ritz Camera, and tested their sample...and again, same thing.*Turns out that the previous poster is correct...there's a small ball bearing inside of the camera body which lets the camera know in which orientation the camera is being held.*Nothing to worry about

Woah...I never noticed that sound. It's barely noticable.
