My experience is, for "toggle" ON/OFF type of power button for most other DC, it will simply delay the power-off request until the file-writing has been completed.

But D50 is a diff story, since the ON/OFF switch is "swing" type i.e. it's a hard-command that the power MUST be cut when you swing to OFF.

Unless if Nikon also implements the swing switch as a logical switch only.

The D50 on/off switch is a logical switch, not a power switch. I noticed this while shooting RAW. After I turn off the camera it stays on for maybe half a second as it writes to the card (top LCD still on). When I shoot jpeg it turns off almost immediately.

I don't think it is anything to do with turning of the power switch.
