Just bought a D50. Looking throuigh the viewfinder there is a faint black line running from the bottom of the viewfinder to the centre AF bracket. If I change AF brackets then I get a black line running to the selected AF area so I guess the black line is something to do with the LCD which highlights the selected AF area. Question is: Should it be visible? Is it visible in your viewfinder?

I guess either (a) the power, OR (b) the Liquid Crystal , supply to the viewfinder.

Not much big deal. Take it easy.

Happy Shooting!

I have the same thing in my new D50. Verticle line running through the finder, but only during focus lock.

That's normal. Mine has it also. My guess also is that it's the power to highlight the focus point, kinda like the lines on your defrosting lines on car's rear windshield. It moves around (vertical/horizonal) as the focus point moves.

Excellent, it didn't really bother me, but was just wondering if it was normal.

Thanks all.
