Default neat image and photoshop file size

i get a nef file then convert to tiff in photoshop...this is 60mb file...then clean the noise up with neat image...this becomes a 30mb file....

what happened?...quality is still there?...i can still print poster size prints vs the original 60mb file correct?

thanks

I don't know. Just a guess, but maybe neatimage is storing the file as compressed tiff, whereas photoshop was using uncompressed tiff?

I agree with Eric - it COULD be that NeatImage is using LZW compression (which about halfs the size - without any loss). Or maybe NI simply removes datas from the files in its process. Just guesses though!

Another guess is that when you do the original conversion you are creating a 16-bit TIFF and after Neat Image it is saved as a standard 8-bit TIFF ??
