Default FIRMWARE UPDATE!

No no not a new one.

Yesterday when I removing my extensionring attach to my powered on D100 the LCD suddenly started flashing with a blue screen with this text.

"ALERT - NO FIRMWARE UPATE FOUND".

Have anyone experinced that ? I thought it couldn't be done by users...hmmm. funny!

Did you try a Hard Reboot by sticking a pen in the hole? That may fix it.

It really was no problem. It went away after turning power on and of. I was just curious if anybody else experienced this!

I never had that happen, but when I stuck a mechanical pencil up that hole, my D100 played dead for a few minutes That was scarry! I then found out the little switch in the hole was stuck in the pressed position, which prevented proper opperation of the camera.

Oh, I'm pretty sure that the D100 can be updated via the CF card like all other Nikon cameras. The trick is getting the firmware which Nikon has never made public for their dSLR cameras. Always requires a trip to the service center

I wish they'd get on the same page as Canon and make firmware for all of their cameras available as a download ...
