So I went into office depot because I'm dSLR shopping and figured they'd have a few that I could put my hands on and just feel them to see how they fit my hands.
I was hoping they'd have the new Sony A1000K as that was the one I was basically set on but it runs around 900-1000 bux.
so I walk in and I'm BSing with the gun and I'm fidling with a Rebel XT. so I look and they've got a D50 sitting there as a display. Then I notice a big sale sticker that says it's been marked down from $799 to $499. I ask the guy hey do you have any in stock.

The D50 was one of the ones on my list but it was kinda down there because it was the same price as lots of the others but was slower and only 6.1MP. But I figure ehh for $499 it's not bad hell I could sell it on e-bay for more and make money

He's like we're out of stock but I checked the computer and this one was only put on display wednesday. I look at his screen and sure enough the display D50 went in service on wednesday.

I was like Dude how bout you knock something off for it being a floor model. He replied saying he can't go any lower since it's $150 below his cost but he'll hook me up with accessories.
So I wound up getting the D50 kit with the 18-55Lense.
a 512MB SD flash card
a Camera Bag
2 year extended Warranty with Accidental Damage Protection
100 sheets of 8x10 photo paper
and a spare battery
All for the original $499 price. the warranty alone is over 100 bux.

SCORE!!!! It wasn't at the top of my list but for the price it's an AWESOME deal. Plus since my budget was like 1700 including flash and spare lenses it leaves me lots of extra room to get hooked up with some nice lenses and a better flash than I was gonna get!!!

This guy SSOOOOOOO made my morning

Way to go, that's a great deal. I hope you'll enjoy your D50 as much as I'm enjoying mine! It's a great camera.

wow... you went all out with lenses. I don't understand why you bought these three though:

55-200mm Nikon DX
Nikon nikkor 70-300mm
Sigma 70-200 F2.8 EX

They seem redundant. I would have bought a 10-20 or 12-24 instead.

12-24 is $900bux.
I was trying to have a nice versatile set of lenses without spending a fortune. it was hard enough to break out the $800 bux for the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8
the 18-55 kit lens so far has proven to be wide enough for me.
the 55mm f1.8 is great for candids.
the 55-200 is a decent walkaround.
the 70-300 is a nice outdoor bright light zoom.
the 70-200 that can also take the 1.4x tc makes for a nice combo for shooting action but it's not nearly as portable as my 70-300 so I'll only use it when I need it.

Eventually I might get the 10.5mm Nikon fisheye as I already have the Nikon software that can correct the picture into a standard format looking pic.

when you take into account the pricing on the lenses and the physical size of them you'll see what a nice versatile combo they make.

Good buy on the camera Sky

Here are my opinions onlense purchases:

I can't stand my damn Sigma lenses, I hardly ever use my 70 to 300, it is super slow at focusing, maybe the nikon wil be bettter.

My 28 to 105, F1.8 Sigma sucks and it zooms backwards from my others.

Nikon Kit lens 18 - 70 is a great lense

I have a 28 to 200 Tamron, ebay used for $90.00 and I love it

Nikon 50/1.8, nice but spends a lot of time in the bag

Unless you are a former SLR or DSLR owner and know what you want and need, I recommend that most wait until they've had their camera for a bit before purchasing glass.

Have fun Eh!

This particular sigma is very fast. it's one of their HSM lenses it's faster than my Nikon DC motor lenses.
