I am looking to add a mid range walk around zoom for my D70 which came with Nikon's 18-70 mm and 70-300 mm lens kit. I am also considering the 18-200mm Di II from Tamron. Searching web reviews has left me with diverse and extreme opinions about image quality, noise, speed and overall value. I would appreciate feedback from forum members who have used either or both of the lenses. Any other similar suggestions would also be very helpful to a new dslr owner.

I use the Nikon 24/120 "VR" for 98% of all the things I photograph. It is a very good crisp lens for all around use.
Although I really like this lens, I will probably take a close look at the Nikon 18/200"VR" when it becomes available. Both of the len's are 3.5 to 5.6 and both are "VR" so if the 18/200 is not super bulky and heavy I may have to get one. |

I use the Sigma 18-200 DC lens. This is a great all around lens. Most reviews I read said that the Sigma was superior in sharpness to Tamron. I purchased it from Sigma4less.com for approx. 335.00. Nikon has just come out with the same lens for about $800.
