II just purchased a Nikon D70s that comes withthree lens. A wide angle, a 28 - 80 mm f/3.3 - 5.6 and a NK 70 - 300. Beingrather new to Digital SLR photography, Will I be ok in taking some sport shots inside a hockey arena that has rather poor lighting with the lens that I'll be getting?I've taken some digital pics withNikon Coolpix 950 that realy didn't work that well. Can anyoneoffer some feed back on this issue? Thanks. Ken P.S. The camera is on route!

Which wide angle lens do you have?? Hockey arenas are dark by camera standards, and require faster (larger) aperatures. You're best bet is the 28-80 of the lenses you have. Even better, would be to pick up a fast prime. The 50 1.8 is great and inexpensive. You also have to be careful when shooting hockey, as the bright white ice tricks the camera into underexposure. You will want to adjust your EV to +1 or so.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have the camera yet, it still on route. It didn't realy specify a model on the wide angle. I'm not sure if I jumped the gun and bought a lens package that will haunt me. I'll have to give it some time when it arrives. I bought it on ebay from a dealer in florida on the 13th of April and its still being processed (?) today is the 20th! Oh well, live and learn.

Why was this post moved to the "Sony D-700, D-770 SLR" section? I wonder.

I think larger aperture lens is what u need, it's suit for the dark and sport situation, with large aperture and ISO, it can get fast shtter.
