Steve's Hands on review is now up...!
http://forums.steves-digicams.com/st...non-mount.html Canon mount but I think the info is still pertinent... Another positive review I'd say... ![]() Last edited by Wizzard0003; Dec 7, 2010 at 11:40 AM. |

Latest Update:
For those interested LensTip has finally done a thorough review on the Tamron... Here are links to both the Tamron and Nikon reviews so you can view them side by side and do a comparison... Tamron SP 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD http://lenstip.com/index.html?test=o...wu&test_ob=284 Nikon Nikkor AF-S 70-300 mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED VR http://lenstip.com/index.html?test=o...wu&test_ob=229 My personal feeling after reading the review is that the differences between these lenses are so minor that they aren't even worth considering... Either lens would be a good choice in this price/performance bracket... One possible caveat of the Tamron though is that I've been reading some complaints from people in other forums that some of the Tamron's over/under expose, at least on some Nikon bodies such as the D7000... Tamron seems to be aware of this condition though and those that have sent their lenses to Tamron for sevice have reported that they get them back exposing perfectly... Hope this info is helpful to someone... ![]() PS: I'll be purchasing my D7000 soon (as soon as bodies only are in stock where I'm buying from) and will probably buy the Nikon... With the $200 instant rebate going on right now (at participating retailers) I can get the Nikon for $40 cheaper than the cheapest deal I've found on the Tamron (even with the $50 mail in rebate) and I don't have to mail anything in or worry about exposure issues... the tamron is not to shabby. It is pretty darn impress on a canon body. And in the German review mags, got some good write up.

Wizzard0003, thanks for your latest update. Both lenses look good, it seems that there is no bad choice here.

Didn't really have time to read all 25 replies to this but I own the Nikon 70-300mm f4-5.6 G, non afs but I'm pretty sure the d90 has a built in motor so no problem. It takes amazing photos except in very dark situations. Check out some of my photos as most are shot with this lens. The G non afs and non vr model is only $150 so 1 up! My newest post with my sunset photos, I think they turned out quite well, shot with the 70-300mm.

![]() I'd agree, both are fine lenses in this price/performance bracket... I just pulled the trigger on the D7000 with the Nikon 70-300vr yesterday... With the Nikon Body/Lens combo rebate I'm getting the lens for $319 USD... ![]() UPS est delivery for 2/15... ![]() |
