Besides, if you ever decide to sell your lens or camera with the lens, you will get more for the Nikon gear. (if you already bought a lens... sorry as I just read the first post) (Ok... I now see you made the smart move!)

I have the tamron and I'm very happy with mine. Sharp at f/4 to f/8. I almost never find myself going to f/8, its so sharp wide open. Maybe I have a good copy.
My only gripe with it was panning but then changing from AF-A to AF-C solves the problem. |

Are we allowed to post pictures in this forum for show? If yes can someone with the Nikon or Tamron lens post some pictures.
Thanks |

I have the Nikon 70-300 VR and am quite happy with it. I don't own a Tamron but do have a 12-24 Tokina that is also very good. The only downside for the Tokina is flare when shooting into the sun, which my Nikon lens seem to control better. I don't know how the Tamron 70-300 does but that would be my concern. Otherwise the Tamron owners seem to be happy.

what I'm seeing... Both shot with Nikon D7k (also new since last tue...) 300mm / f9 / 1/800 / ISO 2000 / 0 EV ![]() 300mm / f9 / 1/1000 / ISO 2000 / 0 EV ![]() What I'm finding is above 200mm I need f9 and above for good center sharpness with around f11 (ish) being best for both center and edge... I'm sure the Tamron would probably behave similarly... Both lenses are of the same general design... ![]() Last edited by Wizzard0003; Feb 20, 2011 at 3:12 PM. |
