Hello! Being a new D40 user, I have a question that I hope you will answer.
I know already that AF lenses won't autofocus on the D40, however...is every AF lens capable of manual focus? Or some of them are only to be autofocused internally, with no ring for manual focus?
Thanks for your help!
artmustel,
Af lenses will certainly focus manually. Most DSLRs have rather dim viewfinders and are hard to focus manually. In some situations, you will have to rely on the focus confirmation light in the viewfinder, and hope for the best. Actually, it's not THAT bad. I manually focus quite often with good results on my D50, with AF lenses. Some focus rings are thin and not too much fun, but you can do it enough and it will become second nature. Some of us here shot for many years before auto focus cameras were produced, but then the cameras had brighter viewfinders and split screen focussing. Sorry to ramble..Robert
