Hi all,

Does anyone know the difference between AF-S DX and AF lens?

Thanks in advance.

On AF lenses, the focusing is driven by the camera's motor. This means on budget cameras, like D50, these lenses will focus slower.

AF-S lenses have focusing motor on them, so they will focus faster.

DX means the lens is designed for Nikon's digital camera, which in today's case mean for cameras with sensors smaller than 35mm films. These lenses cannot/shouldn't be used on 35mm film cameras. In the future, they may not work on full frame digital cameras.
