Hi all,
I know you all are great at this stuff.
I've just acquired my D70 and I am at a complete lost.
So, my question to you all are:

"How do you know a lens can fit to a Nikon?"
"How do you know if a lens is for Nikon dSLR or Film?"
"Is there a way to tell even if they are from Sigma or Tamron? "

Thank for your answers.

Well, first of all, all Nikkor lenses are for Nikon mount. If you buy third party lenses (e.g. Sigma, Tamron, Tokina etc) they have to specify the mount. Not that hard, really.
Lenses for digital only are marked as such. For instance, Sigma's have a special DC label. Nikkors have DX.

Nikon AF film lenses can be used with DSLR's as well.

As long as your buying an AF Nikon mount lens it will be compatible with Nikon DSLR's. The name brands are clearly marked, and any reputable camera store will be able to stter you in the right direction.
