This lens is just ok. I actually used to own one. It is slow focusing and soft at wide aperatures and on the long end of the zoom. It does ok at about f/8-f/11 in the middle ranges of the zoom. I would not recommend it over the 55-200. The Nikon 80-200 f/4.5 is a better zoom choice, and can be found used for around $100 at KEH.com.
