well i finnaly have the budget for some new glass..$1,000 i am really looking at nikon 80 200 2.8 d..i have a d50.....was wondering if any boby has this combo and if so i would appreciat your input on this.....d200 is somewhere downd the line but dont know when ...thanks in advance randy

I've had the 80/200 for over 10 years and I still love it, in fact preferring it at times to the 70/200 because it seems better balanced. However, it is slower focusing and while a great lens it will depend on what your intended use is. If sports action I'd hang on a bit and save forfor the 70/200 which I prefer for motorsport for instance. There are so many 80/200 lenses out there secondhand now that personally I'd buy from a trusted dealer like B&H or such and save a fortune.
