I've used the Tamron 18-250mm with the Pentax K20d (only 3 weeks ago switched to Nikon) on most of the pictures you see here: http://1-4u-computer-graphics.com/ That lens was ALL I USED for several months last summer. Just my nickles worth...

The 18-250 is better than the 18-200, but seperate lenses of less ambitious zoom ranges will be better and cheaper. They'll just be less convenient.

I have the Nikor 18-200mm VR lens for nearly 2 years now and I personally think it's a very nice lens.
In fact today I received a mail from Old Nickonions, with their winning photo of a monk in red, set against white roofs/bldgs and guess what the shot was taken with the Nikor 18-200VR. Have a look at it. Or you could do what I did, take your camera body to a shop and stand in the doorway and bang off a few shots with your chosen lenses. The second shop I went to, I left my wife as a hostage and went walk about with the 18-200, but before I bought it,I took my card home and looked at the pics on my P.C.having taken the lenses back first to get my wife back :-).I'm more than satisfied with it, as for me it beats lugging a batch of lenses around.(Been there done that) As we say over here it's horses for courses. Good luck enjoy trying some out.
