Hello everybody.

I've experienced a very strange - I suppose - problem with my Nikon AF-S 80-200 (sitting on a Fujifilm S5 Pro): after a while of shooting the AF just stops to work! The "half-shooter" does not react (the manual focus works perfectly tough). I've tried my camera with another lens - my old AF-D 80-200 (push-pull) and the AF worked as usual. I went back to the AF-S 80-200 and the problem with AF remains.

Now is the funny thing: after a half an hour or so, the autofocus started to work again (!) but only for a couple of shots, then the same procedure over again. I just wonder what is the reason for such behavior – did someone in the Forum experienced something like this? There is nothing wrong with the camera – it works with all the other lenses.

You may want to clean the contacts on the camera body and lens. It may not be making a good enough electrical connection and an AF-S lens will require more current (to power it's built in focus motor, since it doesn't use the body based motor).

If that doesn't solve it, you may want to try a different battery (I'm assuming you're using a Lithium Ion battery versus AAs via a holder), in case your battery isn't supplying enough current to the lens.
