If buying a prime lens for the D300, I need a reccomendation. Should I get the 50mm over the 35mm and F1.8 over F1.4. Money is not the largest consideration. I need a lens that will stay on the camera for everyday photos, family etc. I have an 18mm to 200mm that came on the camera.

For general purposes, I'd say the 35 is a better choice than the 50. On an APS-C body, the 50 is a short telephoto, while the 35 provides a more normal perspective.
Have you considered a good standard zoom? or do you really need the maximum aperture to be larger than f/2.8?
