so i've heard, i could use a older lens from film camera on my DSLR since i do have the auto focus motor built in to the body.

true? and is it for EVERY nikon lens?

yes and yes.
You can even put old manual focus lenses on your camera. (even non-AIS ones if you file the back ring off a bit)

Be careful what you try to mount on it. Autofocusing lenses will be fine.

See the section on this page about lenses you should *not* mount on a D50:


You also won't have metering with non-CPU lenses on a D50, even if they have been converted to AI.
