Cool,
I would remove the tripod collar, and replace it with the included rubber cover. That'll lose a few oz and make the lens easier to hand hold. ![]()

I think I will keep it on as I like to use the monopod a lot and it's a hassle to take it on & off. A tad more awkward, but I'm use to it as I did that with my last Tamron & Sigma.

Nothing wrong with that.
![]() I tend to remove everything to make my outfit light and nimble... My friends on the other hand accessorize their cameras with battery grips, L-bracket, quick-release for straps/belts, but then they don't shoot from a kayak like I do. How's the lens AF with the D7100? Have you tried it with a teleconverter? (Sigma 1.4x and not Nikon's as you might have to slow the lens down)

http://forums.steves-digicams.com/wi...-060915-a.html So this Sigma is a piece of cake in comparison! ![]() -> I have a Pungo 120 Utralite which is only a recreational kayak so it's very stable... and not a performance boat which is tippy.

![]() But do you have any exposure problem with the D7100 though? If not then wait for the next update... I didn't noticed it as always bracketed my shots, and when it overexposed I thought it was my metering on dark subjects, so I just cranked the +/- compensation on the camera down by -1EV. Now I'm just a happy camper as it wasn't me but everyone with the D500 had the same issue (with the 1.4x)

I'm wonder if the firmware really speeds up the AF 50% like they claim? http://www.dpreview.com/news/2798041...f=related-news These two shot at 600mm @ f/6.3 ![]() ![]() These two shot at 480mm/500mm @ f/6 ![]() ![]()
