I was just wondering if anyone has come across this lens. It's pretty cheap for the technical characteristics that it delivers (about 160$ plus shipping on ebay) and, for someone who is looking to carrying only one lens, i think this would make a pretty good choice.
Has anyone used this lens? Does it deliver the goods? |
I just bought one a couple of weeks ago at B&H's used dept. So far I am very happy with it. If you don't want to do a lot of lens changes in the field, this lens is a fairly reasonable option.
I've heard that this lens is a little soft at 300mm, especially wide open. There are charts and other data to back that up, but chartsdon't alwaysreflect the true aesthetic of using a lens. I'd say buy it and let us know how you like it. :| Cheers, Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada http://tomoverton.myphotoalbum.com |
Tom, please tell me a good place to get a bargain price for the Nikon D50 and lenses in Canada. So far, I only know of ebay and I would like to know other shops/sites where they keep their prices as low or even lower than those in the US.
Thank you. |

Tom, does the lens extend outwards when in tele?
p.s. does it work with the Nikon D50? |

Though this is not a digitally optimized lens, it should work fine on a D50. Cheers, Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada http://tomoverton.myphotoalbum.com |

Tom, thanks for the details!
thanks for the link, mtclimber! |
well, it seems that this lens was available on ebay at 160$, new, but now that that auction has ended it only comes at about 350$.
i feel so sad for having missed on that chance and 350$ is way over my budget. :( |
Zygh, I bought asecondhand Tamron 28-200 a couple of weeks ago.Have a look at this link, there`s not much difference between 200 and 300,you may be able to pick one up
