I'm using the Nikon D70 with the 24-120 VR lens. Elsewhere I've read some opinions about turning off the VR feature when shooting in bright, sunny, well lit areas. Some have suggested that it produces a bit sharper picture?

Right now I leave it on all the time. Any opinions?

Thanks. Jim

Even the top of the line 70-200VR produces sharper images with VR off, so I would expect the 24-120VR to perform the same. However, if you don't notice the difference in sharpness or image quality, then by all means leave it on to make your life easier.

I only turn it off if using A tripod as the Nikon instructions suggest. It is on all of the time when "not" on the tripod. It is a very nice crisp lens that produces true color and I have no issues at all with it. I use A D100.
