I have a Nikon AF 100-300mm AF and am looking at buying a Nikon D40x. I want to know if my lenses from my N65 will work on the new D40x.

Thanks

Sorry but NO!

You MUST buy newer lenses with "Internally Motor"...as the cheaper D-40x don't have the manual "Pin" connection for your N-65 lens...go to the little more expensive D-80...so all your lenses will can use.:P

They will probably work, but you will have to manually focus - it depends on your definition of "work":?

Keith.

Hi Keith,

Yes maybe...but "WHY"...to be prone to problems...D-80...to my knowledge will be the best option! Always will be "Point Sharp"...as will no depend of your eyes!!!:P

As far as I've been able to determine, Nikon has never made a 100-300mm Autofocus Lens. Are you sure about that?

The D40 requires either AF-I or AF-S to auto focus. Most of the other Nikkors will offer some functionality with the D40 (except autofocus). The IX Nikkors are not compatible at all with the D40.
