70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR or 80-200mm f/2.8D ED AF

Yes, it looks like 70-200 model is much better, but what do you think about sharpness on both?

I have the 70-200 VR and I debated on getting the 80-200. I wanted the VR for some portrait work or I would have gotten the 80-200. I also had the extra money, which is a big part of the question. From everything that I have read on the internet, DP Review, etc the 80-200 is just as sharp of a lens. Maybe a little slower on the autofocus.
