I'm watching an 18-200mm VR lens on eBay, which ends at 19:30 UK Summer time, tonight.

The description is:

Boxed, hardly used. Glass is like new -scratch and fungus free. Body unmarked, super fast focusing lightweight, compact lens. Only reason this is for sale isI have just got the 70mm 200mmVR 2.8 and it will not be getting used. Comes with front rear caps and hood.

Would you want it?

is it at a good price? I'm about to sell a lens myself and was thinking about using ebay. I guess if the price is good and the seller seems good?

I lost out on it, anyway! Although it was only about £40 less than brand new.

I'd rather pay the extra money and get it from a reliable source whom you could return it to if there were any problems. You're not saving a ton of money on this lens on ebay (at least I've never seen any great deals) the piece of mind is worth a few extra bucks.

I am with rjseeney on this one. The price is up there for a lens and the extra money spent on a new one is far better than getting a nice description of the same lens for less and then finally discovering why it was sold for less.

Not often but it has happened that the VR in the lens have failed. I would not even think to try and save money on an expensive lens like that. When it works it's great. When it doesn't, well you have a good lens without the costly feature of VR.
