A friend of mine has a nikon 18-200 that will not auto focus. When the m/a - m switch is on m/a, it will not take a picture. It will take a picture when it is set to m. The focus ring can be manually turned to adjust the focus. Is this a fixable problem? The lens and camera are 1 year and 2 months old. I don't know what her warranty is.

All of these problems are intemittent with the problem occurring 80-90% of the time.

I am not certain if it is the lens, or the focus motor in the camera.

I will put it onto my camera when she gets back to town on Monday. Good Idea.

I was able to catch her before she left town. The lens does not work on my camera, and my Sigma 18-200 works on her camera. Definately the lens.
