I was just wondering.... is this (http://www.preferredphoto.com/viewpr...&l=Froogle) the best (well, sub $400) macro lens I can get for my d40? I'm just looking for a relatively cheap macro lens for it, and stumbled across this one on the nikon site...Thanks!

yes that lens is amazing. But you wont be able to use the autofocus on the D40 because it has no SWM.
But for macro shots you'll want to manual focus anyway

Sigma 105 & 150mm f/2.8 will be AF on your D40 , these 2 are amazing lenses and i believe more usefull then the Nikkor 60mm because you can keep your subject at a longer distance.
Another amazing lens is the Tamron 180mm f/3.5 macro but here again it doesn`t have AF.

I just got the Sigma 18-50m f/2.8 HSM for my D40. It is supposed to be a macro lens as well, although I haven't tried it as such. (I only had it for three days.)
