Does anyone have any advice or experience regarding refurbished lens'? I'm looking at a Nikkor 55-200 AF-S which comes with a 3 month warranty.

What sort of things would put you off?

Cheers,

John K.

I think this is a very viable alternative...if you buy from a reputable source. I purchased an 18-70 DX from Cameta Camera on Ebay. They have an excellent reputation and usually offer a full year warranty on their products.
Here's the lens you mention being auctioned by them.

To me it depends on how much you'd be saving. I've bought refurbed products in the past and had no problems. If I could save 25% or more, I'd probably go ahead and do it. However, if you're only saving a few bucks, especially on a consumer grade lens such as the one you mention, I think you're better off buying new, and getting the full manufacturer warranty.
