I know, stupid question. But if I purchase lenses, for example Nikon 18-55 VR, the ones that come in kits with D60 and D80, do I get a protective filter with that lens or do I have to purchase it separately?
Thanks

Thrasher, I don't think so.

To be sure, go to Nikon's site or an online retailer that sells the lens and there is usually a section in the product description -- or accessible from the product description -- that tells you exactly what ships in the box.

I have never seen a protective filter included with a lens except some 'camera kits' that some retailers assemble on their own.

I use a UV filter on all of my lenes, no exceptions for me.
