I just purchased a Nikon D80 and would like to take wildlife pictures.
Since this type of photo. is new to me, I thought I would ask the experts as to which lens I should purchase. I selected Sigma as I noticed they are less expensive than Nikon. The Sigma 170- 500 with a 2x converter is as far as my budget will streatch.
Should I wait and consider any other options?

Welcome to the forums.

I've moved your thread down to our Nikon Lenses Forum, where you'll be more likely to get some opinions from Nikon dSLR owners.

Thank you. I hope I can contribute to this forum in the future.
It is great to be able to get some answers when you are new to photography.
