What are you going to be shooting with it?

Bugs? Flowers? Coins?

The focal length is quite different between these two lenses, so that should be the deciding factor. Otherwise, both lenses are quite good optically (and the Nikon has the benefit of VR).

thebac is correct, the shooting distance will dictate which lens will be right for you, but I wouldn't base my decision on VR to as this feature is of very limited use in macro:

1. Even the manual stated that VR does not work in macro
2. Photography requires good lighting, especially in macro, and relying on VR instead of improving lighting always tend to produce poor results (lack of saturation, contrast, and poor sharpness etc...)

thanks you for your reply

I will shoot bee and even smaller than that

but 150 sigma you can make close zooming from far distance
to avoid flying the bee but i think sigma has no manual focusing

i am still confused and cannot make up my mind

thank you

I can guarantee you the Sigma has manual focus !
-> In fact you always need to manual focus in macro, and with the Sigma's HSM you can even do it without even having to switch the AF manual switch on the D300 first...

I think that's the right decision--as NHL pointed out, VR doesn't really help at macro distances (though it's nice for a general purpose lens).

Given that you want to shoot bugs, a the Sigma 150 should be better suited, as it's really hard to get close to them sometimes.
