Default Nikon 35-70mm f/2.8 alternative

Was looking around for a midrange zoom, and I stumbled across the 35-70mm f/2.8. WHAT!? $500 for a Nikon f/2.8!??? Nice bokeh and sharpness too!
I was set on tamron's 17-50...bad bokeh.

I'm wondering if there are any other <$600 f/2.8 AF zooms with good bokeh? Preferably range starts around 24mm. 24mm (35mm on dx) is wide enough for me., i use an old 24-48mm AI-S lens on my D90!

Probably there isn't. I can get a 50mm 1.4 ai-s pretty cheap, does that have good bokeh, i'll see

How about the tokina ATX 165 16-50mm 2.8 or the sigma 28-70mm 2.8 ex dg as f2.8 options on the market in that range. 35mm at the widest point may be a bit tight.

Tamron 17-50 beats both in every category.

I revise my question, is there any fast zoom which has good sharpness and bokeh ?

The nikon has awesome bokeh and sharpness but the focal length isnt so useful on DX!
