Hi Steve

I am looking to get a lens for my d700 with a very low Fstop but with wide range , which one do you suggest I get?

Thank you for your input.

As a rule lenses with small f/stop numbers don't have wide zoom ranges. What range are you looking for?

In general, zoom lenses don't have apertures larger than f/2.8. (A noteable exception is the Olympus 35-100mm f/2.0, but it costs $2,400 and won't fit your D700.) There are a number of very good zoom lenses with f/2.8 maximum apertures, but none of them has more than about a 3X zoom range. Some examples are Nikon's 14-24/2.8, 24-70/2.8, and 70-200/2.8. They are all very useful, but for very different purposes.
