Default dxomark re 18 200mm findings.?...

This I found surprising and went against what I understand about lens/body combos.
Because I was thinking of moving to the 18 300mm f6.3 I have been looking at reviews etc. So on DXOmark they show a comparison between it and my 18 200 . It's possible to put different bodies on different lenses on dxomark..
Initially I was looking at the comparison of the 18 300mm on a d7100 body versus the 18 200mm with a d5000 body (they dont show the d5100 ) and the18 300 showed up as sharper. When I reversed it around putting the 18 200 with a d7100 body and the 18 300 with the d5000 body the 18 200mm was shown as sharper. Putting both lenses with d5300 bodys they show the same sharpness. So according to DXOmark a better body/sensor etc will make a lens like the 18 200mm sharper ..I have always thought that most modern dslrs out resolved most lenses. What am I missing here?.

Lenses don't get better or worse depending on the body they're attached to.

SLRGEar.com has better, easier to understand test results.

Neither is particularly sharp, but the 18-300 has a lot more chromatic aberration than the 18-200.

In general, jack-of-all-trades-and-masters-of-none lenses don't perform as well as multiple lenses of less ambitious zoom ranges, but the 18-200 you have is one of the best lenses of its kind.

Thanks for the reply TCav, it's logical that cameras shouldn't be able to increase a lens sharpness.
Thats what I didn't understand about DXO'reviews especially as they seem to be highly regarded with their scientific assessments.

I suspect that, along with their sensor "scores", their lens measurements have a little bit of DxOMark flavor added. There, the same lens often performs better on a 'Full Frame' body than it does on an APS-C body, and that's just not possible.

I place a greater reliance on the tests performed and published on SLRGeam.com and PhotoZone.de.

I had a look at slrgear but they haven't reviewed the 18 300 f6.3 yet. I have gone off the idea now because it doesn't handle c/a very well .So I'll stay with my 18 200mm even though I've had about 8yrs and have taken literally 1000's of shots with it.
Thanks for your input TCav.
