Default Need suggestions for new lens

Hi, I have decided to purchase a "faster" lens after not having one for many years.

I have a Nikon D90 and Nikon D7200. I having been using the kit lens 18-105mm in addition to my birding lens.

I want a lens for everyday indoor and outdoor walking around. I have narrowed it down to these two:

Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 EX DC OS HSM--pros--great reviews and price
cons---will I miss the reach of the Nikon 16-80?

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 16-80mm f2.8-4E ED VR---pros--more zoom
cons---price

What are your thoughts and suggestions?

Thank you so much in advance for your input.

My recommendation is the Tamron SP 17-50mm F/2.8 Di II LD (A16). It's not stabilized but it provides better image quality that either of the lenses you've listed.

Faster lenses means you can use faster shutter speeds, so image stabilization is less important. And for indoor shooting, 50mm is fine.
