Default Fuji S2 Pro, School Photos, and Lenses

Greetings,

I am new to the area of lenses. I am considering purchasing a Fuji S2 Pro to take school photos. Can someone recommend a good lense for it? Any bit of advice will help

Thanks,

A good "does it all" type of lens that isn't too expensive is the Tamron 28-300XR at around $435 or so. It isn't the fastest lens at f3.5-6.3, but it is small, light and quite sharp. On the S2 or D100 it's a very good lens (42-450mm) with fairly good AF performance. It isn't Nikkor AF-S class focus speed-wise but then again it doesn't cost an arm and a leg either.

People that are new to dSLR cameras are finding out about the dirt on the imager problem when the change lenses in the great outdoors. Many are looking for a good lens to just leave on the camera all the time to avoid the dirt problems.

And the new Nikkor 24-85G is also good if you don't need a lot of telephoto coverage. It's also small and light and very quick AF speed because it is an AF-S type lens.
