I need some suggestions on 50mm to 70mm very low light lenses. I'm taking shots of live bands for promotional use. I won't be able to use a flash, but I can be very close to the band. I use a D70s, and I dont want to jump up the ISO if I can help it. Even though neat image works like a charm. So lets hear about the best out there.

Thanks

You can't beat the Nikon 50mm f/1.8. It's cheap (under $100 used), sharp and excellent in low light.

Are you refering to the, Normal AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D Autofocus lens?

It comes for under 100 euro's new... and it's a good lens. I use it on my D70. The only downside is the 75mm focal length (due to the D70's cropfactor).

WOW!!!! You guys were right, just got the lense today. Took it to a club, and just with the stage lights, my pic's were sharper then I thought possible. Never had to touch the ISO, and left the flash in my bag. Thanks for the suggestion.

Oh yeah, I only paid 104.00 USD. Best bargain I got in a long time.

Thanks again
