Aftertaking a load of pictures over the weekend, from landscapes to powerboats.I`m glad that I chose the Tamron 18-200 over the Sigma. It really is a great walkaround lens. The bee is a 100% crop ,straight from camera, with the Tamron lens @200mm,just a levels adjustment.

Thanks everyone for the input on this thread.

I'm not sure whether this link was posted before but it provides a direct comparison between the sigma and the tamron 18-200mm lenses.
Check it out. From what it says, the sigma has clearly the better quality.
I'm sure tamron's not bad either.
Anyway, here's the link and you can see for yourself:

A quote from the link
Quote:
I wish the sigma had the same true focal range that the tamron 18-200. It appears that the 200mm end of the sigma is more like 170mm or so.

That is the reason that I chose the Tamron over the Sigma .I would like to see some test shots from the Sigma Zygh,

Thanks

I'm not sure if that link was posted yet or not here but I had seen that before as well. Which is why I was currently leaning toward the Sigma out of the 18-200mm lenses.

Well I decided to go ahead and get the Sigma 18-200 after all the various reading and sample pictures. The price was about the same as the Tarmon, but the pictures I could find comparing them gave Sigma the lead in my mind. I'll post some pictures once it arrives and I get a chance to take a bunch.

Just received my Sigma 18-200mm today and I'm very anxious to getting out there and trying it out. Already took some snapshots around the house and the first results impress me quite a bit.
Also, it looks so darn sexy on the D50... :G
