Since I got my 105VR it was raining every day. I bought the lens because I need a ~160mm tele for flowers and insects in our garden (plenty of them) which some times not easy to get close with my Nikon-Micro 60mm. I like the VR and the macro function of the lens. Using tripod is not always possible with small insects.

These pictures were all uncropped and with VR on.

It has rather good bokeh. Focussing is fast and the VR works well.

Tiger mosquito sapping orchid, VR105, D50. All pictures captured hand holding. The VR-2 worked very well.

Now I had theVR105 for a week. What I like best about this lens are.

1) Very sharp.

2) VR2 works very well make tripod rarely necessary.

3) AF-S is fast and ability to overide with manual focus is very useful.

4) The lens is much bigger and heavier than macro 60mm but still smaller and much lighter than 80-400VR. Big diameter focussing ring makes manual focussing very smooth.

5) Perfect walk around lens. VR is very usefull when using the lens as a portrait or general purpose light telephoto.

6) Very expensive but worth the extra $$$.

I love the lens.
