Default Coolpix 2100- what sort of pictures & quality are achiev

I was just wandering, what is the quality of the nikon coolpix 2100's photos like. I am thinking of getting one (i believe it is the best i can afford), and would like to take some normal (ie family) phots, but would also like to take some nice ones like the close ups, wildlife and scenery ones that all of you members have taken.
I would not be printing any larger than 5x7 inches.
Are good results (like the ones on this site) achievable with a 2Mp camera? I am not worried about getting technique right, as I will have plenty of time to play with the camera and learn how to get good results.
Thanks in advance,
Matthew

Hi. To answer your question, yes you can get a very good photo from this camera. and the 5x7 size you talk about is the best size to stay with when using this camera. You can print larger but you will notice the quality take a big drop down hill. Also rember that this camera is just about 95% point and click. You will not be able to do much playing around with any kind of settings changes. Tealblue

Thanks for the input.
Thinking about it last nght, I decided that I would be able to free up enough money to purchase a coolpix 885, because I like the idea of the manual options, should I (hopefully) get drawn into the photography hobby. I had a change of heart when I looked at the pictures that you guys had taken (particularly Kevin G's), I was inspired and thought about the amount of satisfaction I would get from taking such good pictures.
This made me decide to go for a higher MP rating, with the manual options.(I am fine with techno stuff so I should be OK).
Is the 885 a good camera for some wildlife shots as well as the everyday shots (family, holidays etc.)
Thanks for the input,
Kindest regards,
Matthew
