Default Nikon 5400 and raw(nef)

Just wondering if anyone knows why Nikon chose to not allow the 5400 to have raw/nef format right away? :?:

Seems like a silly omission when the competition has it, unless the camera was rushed to market with an incomplete firmware.

 The 15meg Tiff files are good but take forever for this camera to write.

Default Nikon 5400 and RAW(NEF)

Peter

From what I read on other forums, the general concensus seems to be that Nikon wanted to get the camera out more quickly and that RAW will be made available on a firmware update, don't quote me on this since it is only a supposition on everyone's part. I have the 5000 and RAW came on a firmware update at a later date. I now have RAW and have used and like it, but it also takes the pic quite a whi;e tp come on as in TIFF. Hope PS8 comes out soon with the RAW Plugin installed, as of now you have to buy it separately. Best,

Well just about six months later and still no sign of the RAW capable firmware for the cp5400 :x
Almost no point for it now, the camera is getting on the old & obsolete side :P

Teach me to stray from the Canon fold :P :P :P
